California Association of Orthodontists (CAO)
The Professional Organization for California Orthodontists
Keeping the specialty of orthodontics strong in California.
How it all began…
The California Association of Orthodontists (CAO), founded in 1967 as a component
organization of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists (PCSO), represents nearly
1,500 orthodontists who practice in California. Originally established as the California
State Society of Orthodontists, the society changed its name in 1997.
The purpose of CAO is to provide its members with the tools to achieve success in
the advancement of the art and science of orthodontics, the support of orthodontic
research and education, and striving for excellence in the practice of orthodontics.
CAO's Core Values:
- Supporting the provision of high quality, ethical orthodontic care;
- Making orthodontic care accessible;
- Enhancing members' ability to have successful practices; and
- Effecting two-way, on-going communication with members.
Membership:
Members must have successfully completed their orthodontic education from an American Dental Association approved school. Applications for membership in CAO are handled by the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.
